A Community Homeless Shelter

**Light at the Inn is currently on hold due to the ongoing covid pandemic.

Light at the Inn is a faith-based, rotating, community emergency homeless shelter that started up in Dickinson County in the fall of 2016.

The mission of the shelter states:

The shelter's mission is to provide support for those who are homeless in Dickinson County, Michigan, through the cooperative efforts of an interfaith coalition and various social service agencies, by offering a safe emergency shelter and an opportunity for these individuals to choose a path of successful transition to independence.

Redemption Hill has committed to facilitating three weeks at our church.

  • November 17-23, 2019
  • January 12-18, 2020
  • March 15-21, 2020

Would you like to make a difference in our community? Volunteer! We need...

  • meal donations
  • meal preparation for our guests
  • assistants to be at the church when our guests are here
  • volunteers to check in our guests
  • drivers morning and night to and from the church

Would you consider serving in one needed area?

If you have not served at LATI before, there is brief training that will need to occur prior to your serving. Please contact Jay Goudreau for more information.

"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices

are pleasing to God." (Hebrews 13:16)

Below are two documents to better assist you in understanding how the Scriptures inform what we believe at Redemption Hill. Our Constitution provides our mission, core values, statement of faith, as well as the operational and governing frameworks of the church.

In addition, our Relational Covenant helps you to understand how covenant members choose to relate to each other in a way that honors King Jesus and promotes biblical community.

Baptism Class

Anyone interested in following the Lord in Believers' Baptism must attend the class on Sunday, October 17 from 9:15-10:00am.  The class is taught by Pastor Josh Thiel and will meet in the South Room.   The next baptism service will be held on Sunday, November 7 during the 10:15 service.

Red Life

Redemption Hill Red Life will begin on Wednesday, October 13.  Two adult classes will run each Wednesday from 6-7:15pm for 8 weeks.  Pastor Alex will teach "Making More Disciples: Gospel 101" and Pastor Josh will teach "Making Better Disciples: Discipleship 101."  There will also be a class for children ages 0-3 years old, 4 years old-2nd grade, and Adventure Club will be for children in grades 3-5th.  Young people in 6-12th grade are encouraged to join one of the adult classes.

Gospel 101 will focus on communicating the Gospel with Roman Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Atheists in our community.  Discipleship 101 will focus on what Biblical discipleship looks like in the context of the Local Church.

Please register for the class you plan on attending.  We ask that you attend one class for all 8 weeks.  The adult classes will be recorded and made available to everyone so you will have access to the one you don't attend  as well as the one you register for.  Please be sure to register your children as well so we can make sure we have enough room for each of the groups.

You may contact the church office at 906.774.2160 if you have any questions.

HOW TO ENGAGE GOD'S WORD

FOR CHANGE

There are a number of ways in which God's Word can be read. Are you struggling to find a method that will drive authentic change? We would encourage you to utilize the Transformation Circle for Reading the Bible. This tool will help you ask better questions as you read and come away more impacted in how God's Word can change your life.

Worship Through PREACHING

Our Worship Gatherings are centered on the Scriptures. The bible is one of the primary ways that God communicates with us and makes himself known to us. Examining the scriptures together occupies the bulk of our time gathered together on Sunday mornings. Our Pastors are committed to faithfully  preaching the message of the scriptures and strive not to stand in the way of the scriptures, but guide attendees directly to the bible itself. Their prayer is to help their hearers leave remembering the Author of the Bible, quickly forgetting the Preacher of the bible.

Worship Through SINGING

God's people have always been a singing people. We believe in the power of song and in the place of singing in our worship of God. As a result, we love to raise our voices together. But it is not simply the act of singing that makes for "worship" - it is the heart, soul, and mind in concert together that make "worship." Our songs are songs about who God is and what he has done. They stir the mind and heart and as we look to God together, we raise our voices to God together in worship.

You'll sings songs both old and new, fast and slow - we sing songs of all kinds! But they have one thing in common: They are biblical and sing-able. We look for songs that are rich and compelling in their theology, but that are able to be sung by all.

Worship Through GIVING

Giving is not on the top of very many lists of "what is worship." But we believe that the believer is called to worship with their whole life. Giving is a unique way to elevate God and praise him. Worshipful giving acknowledges God as our creator and provider - everything we have is from his hand. Funds received are poured into ministry efforts around the world and fuel the proclamation of the gospel near and far.

Worship Through COMMUNION

Communion is a regular part of how we worship together. Instituted by Jesus for his followers on the night that he was betrayed, communion is a visible representation and display of actual spiritual realities. Jesus used the bread, broken and shared among those at the table, as a symbol of how his body would be broken. In the same way, he used the wine, poured out to many, as a symbol of how his blood was to be shed. And just as the bread and wine were given to fulfill the hunger and thirst of those gathered around that table 2000 years ago, so the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross satisfies our need for salvation today.

When we take the bread and the cup, we are remembering and celebrating the brutal beauty of the cross - because he was willingly broken for us and bled out for us, we can have life in him. It is a vivid picture of what happened at the cross and we use it today to guide our hearts to the foot of the cross.

Worship Through COMMUNITY

Christianity is not a solo-mission. We gain many things through the free gift of salvation offered to us at the cross. Family is one of them. Christians are blood relations, bound together not by the blood in their veins, but the shed blood of Jesus. The bible is clear that our fellowship is special. When we are together we are honoring Christ simply by virtue of our togetherness. But it doesn't end there! Our gathering together as a community is loaded with practical and tangible results.

Firstly, a Christian needs a community of fellow believers - a church - because we are meant to depend  on and benefit from one another in innumerable ways. Namely, for accountability, encouragement, and instruction, just to name the essentials.

WORSHIP GATHERINGS

We are living through some unique times - the pattern of many of our lives has been changed, and our Worship Gatherings are no different. During the pandemic, we have worked hard to seek the good of our community by taking safety and sanitation measures, but without compromising our mission of making more and better disciples by gathering for corporate worship.

Our services are open for in-person attendance and we would love to see you here on a Sunday morning. If you have concerns for your safety, we have made a livestream available to you on Sunday mornings and would still love to serve you in any way that we can.

Two services are available - each identical in format - at 8:15 and 10:15

Better: A Study of Hebrews by Jen Wilkin

Jesus is better.

In this 10-session, verse-by-verse study of the Book of Hebrews, Jen Wilkin explores how God “provided something better for us” in the person of Jesus Christ (Heb. 11:40).

Through stories of Old Testament heroes and practices, the author of Hebrews demonstrates how the new covenant is superior to the old and how Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of every promise. Explore familiar verses in context of the entire Bible, learning how to place your hope and faith in Christ alone.

what is important to us as a church?

We believe that family is important. The Gospel, because of the work of Jesus Christ, gives us a new identity - adopted sons and daughters of God. And as part of this new family, we now love God and we love one another. But not only that, but the Holy Spirit was sent to live in each son and daughter of God to change them and help them look like Jesus. The Holy Spirit was sent to be our Comforter and we are now His missionaries. And as missionaries, we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as we speak and show good news called the Gospel. And this is all done by looking to our redeemer Jesus. Because He purchased us with the shedding of His blood on the cross, we now get to serve King Jesus and serve others to show that Jesus is the only hope of the

Redemption Hill Youth Ministry

Our Redemption Hill youth ministry is all about connecting 6th - 12th grade students with the good news of what God has done through Christ!

The youth in our city desperately need the Gospel and personal discipleship. So all of our events and activities are designed to assist them in these key areas. We believe our youth need mentors who are passionate about God and His Gospel.

It is ultimately the responsibility of the Christian family to raise up young men and women into Christ-like maturity. But we also realize that there are many youth who lack a Christian presence in their home. Our goal is to meet students where they are, love them, and speak truth into their lives.

During the school year, we meet every Wednesday night from 6:30pm - 8pm for a time of dynamic teaching and worship, small groups, and a lot of fun and laughter.

For more information about the youth ministry at Redemption Hill, please contact Abe Tunnicliff, our Director of Youth and Technology.
